Below: Regarding this photograph, I was fortunate to be contacted by Jean-Pierre Malsagne who runs an excellent site on China gunboats (www.canochine.com). He managed to spot that the rocks in the background of this shot were
identical to a postcard he has of the Niu-Kau-Tan (Buffalo Mouth Rapid).
I believe HMS Woodlark had an accident at this rapid during her maiden
voyage up the Yangtze.
