Below: HMS Falcon (to right) with a Royal Navy Insect Class gunboat (to
left). Note that the ships display very large flags in order to avoid artillery
fire and aerial bombing. (At the time these shots were taken Japan and
China were at war. European powers remained neutral but their ships periodically
came under fire "by mistake". For reasons I do not fully understand,
RN gunboats displayed (in their awnings) not only the Union Jack, but the
flags of France and other nations.)
