PHOTOGRAPH GALLERY ONE

John L. Addiscott

Most of the photographs contained in this gallery were taken by John L. Addiscott between 1933 and 1935, during his service on HMS Falcon. The photographs were taken as the Falcon patrolled the Yangtze River and its tributaries.

I have attempted to arrange the photographs below starting with those taken at the mouth of the Yangtze and then proceeding upriver. The miscellaneous photographs consist of images which I have been unable attribute to a specific geographic location.

Requests to use these photographs are welcome, but publication may only occur with prior approval.

The photographs appear in both high and low resolution formats. The original photographs were very small, about 2 x 3 inches, and therefore the high resolution images are for anyone who might wish to view a specific area in detail. Download times of high resolution images may be prohibitive depending on your internet connection.

I was very fortunate to be contacted by Peter Oliver whose Grandfather, Surgeon Lieutenant John Widdecombe Oliver, served on the Falcon at the same time as my Grandfather, Engine Room Artificer John Leslie Addiscott. He sent an image of the crew of HMS Falcon seen in a group photo before the ship.
