THE SHANGHAI BUND

The photographs below show the evolution of the Shanghai Bund from 1860 to present. In order to provide some frame of reference, I have identified the same building in each of the photographs (immediately below). This building survived until recently when it was replaced, as seen in the final 2003 shot. (Note: A "bund" is a high bank along the river which was generally constructed at most Yangtze cities to limit flooding.)
