HMS Rorqual - a Royal Navy minelaying submarine launched on July 21, 1936.
(Photograph taken in China on November 17, 1938)

This has nothing to do with Royal Navy gunboats in China, but I found this photograph in a lot I purchased. It is of the submarine, HMS Rorqual, which was built in 1936 and one of the Grampus Class submarines (strangely, the Grampus Class is often referred to as the Porpoise Class and not to be confused with the later Porpoise Class subs that were built from 1956 onwards (just to make it really confusing, an HMS Rorqual was also built in that later group).
